WebMail - Manual

This article deals with the handling of the WebMail &boxboxbox; email client. If you want to manage your emails in the customer administration, follow the instructions in the Emails - Manual.

The screenshots are taken in the new Elastic template. If you are using an older Larry template, follow the text instructions or at least temporarily change the template according to the section Updating the template.

VEDOS WebMail

WEDOS WebMail is an email client based on RoundCube ⧉ software. You can access it directly from your browser at https://webmail.vedos.cz ⧉. You can use it to log in to any mailbox hosted on our Webhost, Mailhost, WMS, or WebSite.


Login to WebMail

Log in to webmail with the full email address of the email account you are logging in to (e.g. ladik@vedos.cz) and the corresponding password.

If you don't remember your password, follow the instructions in Emails - Change Password. Please note that it will take approximately 10 - 30 minutes to change your password.


Basic Actions

You can conveniently perform common activities in the WebMail client, for example:

  • Read and write emails with attachments
  • Reply and forward messages, send copies and hidden copies
  • Sort emails by subject, sender, date and size
  • Manage contacts in a directory

Updating the template

With the WebMail update, the default template for newly created mailboxes was changed to the modern, responsive Elastic template. The older mailboxes retained the original Larry (or Classic) template, but the descriptions and images in the instructions use the new template. If you need to switch between them, follow these steps:

  1. Click Settings.
  2. Select Properties and then User Interface.
  3. In the Appearance section, select the desired template.
  4. Click the Save button.

Common problems

Common problems with Webmail include:

Login failed

Problem: Attempting to log in results in an error message: Login failed. You are probably entering the wrong login credentials - username or password.

Cause: you are entering incomplete or incorrect login details, or you are logging into a disabled service. Other common causes of this problem include deleted mailboxes and attempts to log in via email to customer administration.

Solution: Check that:

  • You enter the full correct address as your login name. If you are using an alias domain, try entering the main web hosting domain. Do not enter login credentials in the customer administration.
  • You are entering the correct password. If you have changed it recently, wait 10-30 minutes and try logging in again.
  • The hosting to which the mailbox belongs is active. Service mailboxes disabled due to expiration are unavailable. You can quickly check the status of the service, for example, in the order overview ⧉ in the customer administration.

Automatic email preview

Problem: Email preview is displayed directly in the inbox. When the previous email is deleted, the next email is marked as read.

Cause: by default, the new version of Webmail is set to preview layout and mark mail as read immediately.

Solution: To disable marking mail as read, go to Settings, Properties and Mailbox view. For Mark messages as read, select never (or time of your choice). Save the settings.

If you don't want to preview mail at all (so you open mail by double-clicking), switch to the Larry template according to this guide and select List (without preview) under Settings > Properties > Mailbox view . Save the settings.

Reset Larry template with mobile Elastic

Problem: I have a Larry template set up on my computer with a List layout (no preview). Whenever I log into WebMail from my mobile, the layout switches to the default Widescreen (3 columns).

Cause: The mobile version uses an Elastic template that does not use the Layout parameter.

Solution: We are currently working on a solution from our side. In the meantime, you can use this alternative approach:

  1. In the customer administration, open the mailbox settings according to the instructions in Emails - Mailboxes.
  2. Add any alias to the mailbox. You do not need to change the password.
  3. Arrange for one mailbox name to log in to the PC and another (alias) to log in to the mobile version. The password is the same for both addresses.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why doesn't my email client work, but WebMail does?

This is usually a bug in the basic client settings, most often the server, port, or security. Another common obstacle is improperly configured security features such as firewall and antivirus software. If WebMail is working, the error with mail functionality is probably not on our side.

How do I increase the capacity of my email inbox?

You can increase the capacity in the customer administration. Follow these instructions.
