Hiding domain contact details
The registry sets the conditions for hiding domain contact details. Different domain extensions therefore offer different choices about which details to make public or hide.
You can always check detail visibility by entering the domain in the relevant WHOIS system or a suitable online tool.
CZ domains
For CZ domain contacts, you can hide:
- address (only for MojeID contacts verified by the CZ.NIC registry)
- phone
- fax
- VAT ID
- document number
First and last names, or a company’s name and registration number, cannot be hidden.
If a contact’s address is hidden, any change to the contact prevents it from remaining hidden until the registry verifies the contact again. For contacts registered outside MojeID, the address cannot be hidden again even after re-verification.
EU domains
EU domain contact details cannot be hidden.
For individuals, WHOIS always displays the email address and language.
For companies, WHOIS displays the company name, city, region, country, email address and language.
SK domains
For SK domain contacts, you can hide:
- name
- company
- address
- phone
- fax
However, SK domain WHOIS takes the above settings into account only for legal entities (it always displays the name, company name and address).
For individuals, it always displays only the name, regardless of these settings.
PL domains
PL domain contact details cannot be hidden.
For individuals, WHOIS never displays any details.
For companies, WHOIS displays the company name, personal name, address and phone number.
Generic domains (gTLD and nTLD)
The following details are always hidden for generic domains:
- name
- company
- address
- phone
- fax
This setting cannot be changed.
Configuring hidden details
Open the contact editing interface following the guide Domains – Editing a Contact.
If your contact supports editing, hide its details by selecting the corresponding option in Customer Administration.
All supported details are hidden by default.
Avoid providing incomplete or false details. Concealing or falsifying domain contact information violates registry and registrar terms and may result in domain cancellation.
Frequently asked questions
Do you offer WHOIS privacy?
We currently do not offer this service, which usually displays the registrar’s details instead of the owner’s. You can only hide details, and only where the registry allows it.
How does CZ.NIC contact verification work? When can I hide my address?
Check the latest contact verification information directly with the registry ⧉. Once the registry allows the address to be hidden, use the standard procedure in Customer Administration.
What could happen if I provide false domain details?
The registry may suspend your domain by removing it from DNS or revoke it.
