For a domain to work properly, it needs to be connected to the DNS system. This connection is mediated by specialized DNS servers, which are most often provided for your use by the domain registrar or web hosting provider. VEDOS provides its customers with DNS servers for domains, web hosts, and even completely separately.
You can change the DNS server provider by contacting the domain registrar. If you have a domain registered with VEDOS, log in to the customer administration and follow these steps:
- In the navigation bar, select Domains.
- In the list, check the domains for which you want to change DNS servers.
- Below the list, select Change DNS servers as the action with the selected items, and then click Perform.
To set the default WEDOS DNS servers for the selected domains, simply select the appropriate check box and click Continue.
To set up DNS servers from another provider for the selected domains, obtain the names (domains) of these servers and enter them in the text box, each name on its own line.
If at least one of the domains has a CZ ending, you can enter the NSSET name of the selected provider for these domains. If the provider does not have its own NSSET, enter the DNS servers in the large text box as previously instructed, the system will create the NSSET automatically.
Once you have completed the form, click Continue.
In the last step, check the settings and click Finish.
The actual process of changing DNS servers and, more importantly, spreading the change across the Internet usually takes several hours. Typical times are between 6 and 48. So, expect that during this time, DNS queries are made to both old and new DNS servers, and diagnostics may not return reliable results.
To prevent service outages on the domain during this time, make sure that the same records are uploaded to the original and new DNS servers.
To set up VEDOS DNS servers with another provider, enter the following DNS servers (all with a W):
ns.wedos.czns.wedos.comns.wedos.netns.wedos.eu
For CZ domains, set NSSET WEDOS (with a W at the beginning).
