On this pageConnecting KVMBooting from ISORAID Setup

This guide applies to dedicated servers Fujitsu RX100.

In this article you will learn:

Connecting KVM

The KVM application requires a Java environment.

To get the iRMC KVM access application, follow these steps:

  1. Enter the server’s IP address, including the port, into your browser’s address bar. You can find it in the Customer Administration or in the service activation email.
  2. On the login screen, enter the username and password from the service activation email.
  3. In the tab Console Redirection >> Video Redirection click the button Start Video Redirection.

Booting from ISO

Once the KVM interface is open, boot from an ISO by following these steps:

  1. Select Remote Storage Remote Storage…
  2. Choose the installation media:
    • Select a device from the list on your computer (CD/DVD, USB, …) and click Connect. This connects the storage device to the server.
    • Click the button Add… and select the ISO file stored on the connected computer. After selecting the file, click the button Connect.
  3. Restart the server using the button Ctrl-Alt-Del.
  4. Press the F12 key to bring up the boot menu and select the connected disk.

For a significantly faster installation, we recommend connecting netinstall-type installation media.

The CD/DVD remains connected to the server until you close the KVM window, or you can disconnect it by clicking the button Disconnect.

RAID Setup

The server has 2 physical disks.

The following guide applies to variants with a hardware RAID controller. For variants without this controller, set up RAID in software.

You can start the RAID setup of a server with a hardware controller during the boot sequence. Follow these steps:

  1. When prompted Press Ctrl-C to start LSI Corp Configuration Utility press Ctrl+C.
  2. Select the required controller and confirm with the Enter.
  3. Select the item RAID Properties.
  4. Add or configure the disks.

When creating a RAID array, choose the option IM. We do not recommend the option Integrated Stripping ; although it offers a larger resulting capacity (the disks are combined), if one disk fails you will lose all of your data.

You can also set one of the disks as the type Hot Spare, which automatically starts synchronizing with the working disk if the other disk fails. With IM, you can keep the existing data on one disk and synchronize the second disk with it.
