CZ Domain Auctions
Domains ending in .CZ that have not been renewed are placed in a domain auction by the CZ.NIC registry. The rules and procedures for these auctions are entirely within the registry’s purview; here is a brief excerpt from the help section ( as of June 1, 2026):
- Auctions are held in the Domain Browser at domenovyprohlizec.cz/cs/aukce-domen/ ⧉.
- The subject of the auction is the priority right to register the domain, not the domain itself.
- A sufficiently verified MojeID account is required to participate in the auction.
- Domains up for auction are published in a preliminary list 15 days before the auction begins. The auction process ends when the winning bidder registers the domain, or when the domain is released for general registration if there is no interest.
- The auction winner has 7 days to pay for the priority domain registration right and 14 days to complete the registration itself.
Registering an auction domain with VEDOS
The easiest way to register a domain purchased at auction with VEDOS is to fill out the form at vedos.cz/domeny/cz/aukce-domen ⧉. This will automatically populate a standard order form:
- Registered domain name
- The MojeID ID that won the domain in the auction
Alternatively, you can register the domain using the standard procedure described in the " Domains – Registration" guide, and enter the following information:
- Step 1 – Domain Name: The name of the registered domain
- Step 2 – Use the domain holder’s existing contact information on CZ.NIC: the MojeID identifier of the person who won the domain in the auction

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I negotiate the purchase of a domain before it goes up for auction?
Yes, it is possible to change the owner of a .cz domain within 60 days of its expiration. However, we do not facilitate contact with the domain owner or business communications.
