Hiding domain contact information

The conditions for hiding domain contact data are set by the registry, so you will see different options for different domain extensions to choose which data you want to set as public and which you want to hide.

You can always verify the visibility of the data by entering the domain into the corresponding WHOIS system or online tool.

Domains CZ

You can hide the following information for CZ domain contacts:

The name and surname or company name and ID number cannot be hidden.

If you have a hidden address for a contact, any change to that contact will make it unhidden until the contact is next verified by the registry. Contacts registered outside of MyID will not be able to hide their address again, even if you verify the contact again.

EU domains

You cannot hide data for EU domain contacts.

For individuals, WHOIS always displays the email address and language.

For businesses, WHOIS displays the company name, city, county, country, email address and language.

Domains SK

You can hide the following information for SK domain contacts:

  • Name
  • company
  • address
  • phone
  • fax
  • e-mail

However, the WHOIS system for SK domains only takes the above settings into account for legal entities (it always displays the name, company name and address).

For individuals, it always displays only the name, regardless of the above settings.

PL domains

You cannot hide data for PL domain contacts.

For individuals, WHOIS never displays any data.

For businesses, WHOIS displays the company name, name, address and phone number.

Generic domains (gTLD and nTLD)

For generic domains, the following information is always hidden:

  • Name
  • company
  • address
  • phone
  • fax
  • e-mail

This setting cannot be changed.

Data hiding settings

Access the Edit Contact interface by following the instructions in Domains - Edit Contact.

If your contact supports modifications, hide them by checking the corresponding option in the customer administration.

By default, all supported data is hidden.

Avoid giving incomplete or false information. By withholding or falsifying domain contact information, you are in violation of the terms of the registry and registrar. This may result in the cancellation of the domain.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you offer WHOIS privacy?

We do not currently offer this service, which usually consists of displaying the registrar's details instead of the owner's details. You can only hide the data, and only if the registry allows it.

How does contact verification work with CZ.NIC? When will I be able to hide my address?

Check with the registry for the latest information on contact verification. Once the registry has enabled address hiding, you can do it using the normal procedure in the customer administration.

What do I risk if I provide false information for a domain?

The registry can shut down your domain (remove it from DNS) or remove it.
