Modifying a domain contact
You can change any details of the contact except for the name and company name. Registries view this change as a change of domain owner, even though it may be the same person. So if you are changing these details, among others, create a new contact by following the Domains - New Domain Contact instructions and then change the domain owner by following the Domains - Change Owner instructions.

Please make sure that the contact is in our administration before you start editing. If it is not, re-register it according to the Domains - Re-register a contact instructions.
You can edit a domain contact for any contact in these registries:
- CZ.NIC ⧉ (domain cz)
- EURid ⧉ ( eu domains)
- NASK ⧉ ( pl domain)
- SK.NIC ⧉ (domain sk)
- Subreg ⧉ and Verisign ⧉ ( gTLDs, e.g. com, org, info, ...)
- CentralNic ⧉, Donuts ⧉, GoDaddy &box; and Tucows &box; ( nTLDs, e.g. fun, store, online, ...)
In the case of gTLDs in the Ascio ⧉ registry, you cannot edit the contact directly, changes are made by changing the owner. Follow the instructions Domains - Change of owner.
Find a contact
You can access the contact through the domain administration or search for it in the contact list.
Contact in the domain detail
You can only use the following procedure if the domain is registered with us (otherwise, use the instructions for finding a contact in the list):
- Log in to the customer administration ⧉.
- In the top menu, select the Domains tab.
- Click on a domain name to open its Details.
- In the Information box, look for the line Contact owner or Contact admin.
- Click the name of the selected contact. Caution - click on the pencil icon to enter the administration of the domain owner, not the contact!
- Continue by editing the contact.

To manage a contact for a domain, click its name. Clicking the pencil button does not edit the contact, but changes the owner or administrator of the domain.
List of contacts
If you only have a contact registered with WEDOS, search for it in the list by following these steps:
- Log in to the customer administration ⧉.
- In the top menu, select the Domains tab.
- In the left menu, expand TLD Tools, where TLD is a specific domain extension or registry.
- Select Contact list and search for the contact you want to edit.
- Continue by editing the contact.
Open a list of registry contacts:

Deleting contacts
The system automatically deletes contacts that have not been active for more than 60 days (held on a domain).
Common problems
You may commonly encounter the following problems when editing contacts:
- Contact cannot be traced
- Contact authorization password is not coming
- Contact authorization password does not work
- Cannot change name or company name
- You cannot save a contact change
Contact cannot be traced
Problem: I don't see a contact in the overview of any registry.
Cause: the contact may be in a different customer account, with a different registrar, or deleted (in the case of a contact unused for at least 60 days).
Solution: Try to access the contact directly from the domain details. If this is not possible, check:
- If the contact is in another customer account, move it to your account.
- If the contact is with another registrar, re-register it with the CZ.NIC registry, otherwise create a new one.
- If the contact has not been on the domain for more than 60 days, the system will automatically delete it, so please create it again.
Authorization password is not coming
Problem: The email with the contact's authorization password is not arriving.
Solution: Wait a few minutes and try sending it again, ideally from a different browser. Make sure that the email address to which the authorization message is being sent is up-to-date and that the authorization email has not fallen into the SPAM folder. If the problem persists, contact customer support via the ⧉ form. Please provide the name of the contact and the associated domain or registry.
Authorization password is incorrect
Problem: An error is displayed: Authorization password is not valid.
Cause: Most often it is a case of entering the domain authorization password instead of the contact password. Authorization passwords can also expire after a certain amount of time or use.
Solution: Make sure you enter the contact's authorization password, not the domain's. Ideally, have the password sent directly to you via the link next to the password field. Make sure that the password you enter has not been overwritten by another request to send it, and that not too much time has passed since it was generated (ideally enter it within an hour of the request).
Cannot change name or company name
Problem: The contact change form does not include a field to change the person's name or company name.
Reason: A change of name (including, for example, a change of surname after marriage) or company name is a change of domain owner in the eyes of the domain registries.
Solution: Create a new domain contact with up-to-date details and change the domain owner.
You cannot save a contact change
Problem: After a change, the contact cannot be saved.
Cause: the error occurs most often with contacts of CZ domains with verified contacts that allow you to hide the postal address. Changing the data will break this verification and the address cannot be hidden.
Solution: For CZ domains, unhide the address. This is only possible for a contact that meets the conditions of the &boxbox registry listed here, whose authentication is broken by the change. The system will only allow the address to be hidden again after the CZ.NIC registry ⧉ allows it.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I change contacts in bulk?
If you manage multiple domains at one registry, set the same contact for all of them. Then you can make all changes in one place. Make the settings either as part of a domain order or owner change.
Can you make the changes for me?
Changing the details of a domain contact requires strict authorization. We handle it from our side, for example, if you are unable to authorize online due to an unavailable email of the domain contact. For more information on how to resolve such a stuation, please refer to the article Domains - Unavailable Owner Email.
How can I delete a contact?
The system does not support manual deletion of contacts. Contacts that have not been assigned to any domain for 60 days are deleted automatically by the system after this period.
