This guide describes the tests of the EWM Add-on Service. For instructions on activation and accessing the interface, see the article EWM – Activation and Basic Controls.
In this article, you will learn how the following tests work:
Domain
The domain test is available in the variants Professional and High Availability. It warns you in good time about an approaching domain expiration. An expired domain usually means an unexpected suspension of your website and email, and after the grace period you risk losing your domain completely.

HTTP
The HTTP test is available in all variants. It detects whether your website is working or not and can alert you to unusual situations. It does this using HTTP status codes. The usual response 200 OK means the website is working. If EWM detects a different response (404 Not Found, 403 Forbidden, 301/302 Redirect, etc.), it sends a notification.
An unexpected response most often occurs when the website is damaged, its content is deleted, there is a configuration error, or the site has been attacked. The website may then be down or display foreign content for many days before you notice it yourself.

DNS servers
The DNS servers test is available in all variants. If DNS is set up incorrectly or goes down, some users may have trouble connecting to your website or delivering email. Monitoring can alert you to this in good time.

DNSSEC
The DNSSEC test is available in the variants Professional and High Availability. DNSSEC is used to verify that no one is trying to forge DNS records along the way. In this type of attack, a visitor can end up on a fake website and hand over their personal or payment details to the attackers. Monitoring can check that DNSSEC is set up correctly and alert you if it needs to be checked.

MX servers
The MX servers test is available in the variants Professional and High Availability. MX servers are used to deliver email. If they are unavailable, you will stop receiving emails. Monitoring can detect a mail server problem in good time and alert you to it.

SMTP
The SMTP test is available in all variants. The SMTP server is used to send your email. If it is unavailable, you will not be able to send any email, and automatic emails from your website (registrations, orders, etc.) may not be delivered either. Monitoring can alert you to an SMTP problem in time.

POP3 / IMAP
The POP3 and IMAP tests are available in all variants. POP3 and IMAP servers are used to connect an email client (Outlook, Thunderbird, Mail, etc.). If there is a problem with the POP3 / IMAP server, you will not be able to log in to your mailbox and you will see a connection error in your email clients. Monitoring can alert you to the problem in time.

FTP
The FTP test is available in the variants Professional and High Availability. The FTP server is used to store your website data. You will use it mainly when uploading web pages to Webhosting and when managing files on your website. If FTP is unavailable, this is not possible. Monitoring can alert you to this in good time.

SSH / SFTP
The SSH and SFTP tests are available in the variants Professional and High Availability. They verify the availability of the SSH / SFTP server. You can also enter login credentials, in which case the ability to log in is verified as well.

SPF
The SPF test is available in the variant High Availability. SPF record can be used to specify the servers from which you can send mail. Only such servers will pass the anti-spam check on the recipient’s side. The test verifies that the record is set up correctly and displays its content.
