This article covers activating HTTPS for the WebSite service. If you need to activate HTTPS for Webhosting, follow the guide Webhosting – Automatic HTTPS.
HTTPS cannot be activated for domains themselves.
In this article, you will learn:
Activating HTTPS for WebSite
The WebSite service sets up HTTPS automatically. For successful activation, the domain or subdomain only needs to point in DNS to the corresponding WebSite service.
For new domains, DNS propagation may take several hours after registration or owner verification. A similar delay may occur when you change DNS servers or records.
If HTTPS is not active, check the service status in the Customer Administration by following these steps:
- Log in to the Customer Administration ⧉.
- In the top menu, select Hosting Services WebSite.
- From the list, select the WebSite service for which you want to manage HTTPS.

If you see an error notice about the HTTPS setup at the top of the page, first check your DNS settings:
- Verify that the domain or subdomain has the correct A records. You can find the IP addresses directly in the notice.
- If the selected domain or subdomain contains other A or AAAA records that point it anywhere other than WebSite, delete those records.
- If the records are correct, verify that you are using the DNS servers (NSSET) where you set up the records. You manage DNS servers at your domain registrar. For a guide to managing DNS servers at WEDOS, see the article Domains – DNS servers (NSSET).
If everything is in order, click the button Activate HTTPS Security.
HTTPS activation will take effect within 1 hour.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I check that HTTPS is working correctly?
Enter the address of your website with http (http://domena.tld) in your browser. If everything is set up correctly, the address will automatically be corrected to the https version and marked with a padlock icon. If this does not happen, go through the steps of the guide again carefully, including editing the .htaccess file.
I received an email reporting an error while renewing the certificate. What should I do?
The certificate ensures that HTTPS works correctly on the WebSite service. If you do not use the domain with WebSite, you do not need to deal with the certificate here. Otherwise, point the domain to WebSite. If you run into problems connecting to WebSite over HTTPS, request a check using the form ⧉.
