WebSite 1.0 - HTTPS Activation

This article addresses HTTPS activation for WebSite. If you need to activate HTTPS with WebSite, follow the instructions in WebHosting - Automatic HTTPS

HTTPS cannot be activated for domains themselves.

In this article you will learn:

Activating HTTPS on WebSite

WebSite sets up HTTPS automatically. For successful activation, you just need to have the domain or subdomain pointed in DNS to the corresponding WebSite service.

For new domains, DNS resolution can take several hours after registration or owner verification. Similar delays can occur when changing DNS servers or records.

If HTTPS is not enabled, check the status of the service in the customer administration by following these steps:

  1. Log in to customer administration.
  2. From the top menu, select Hosting Services WebSite.
  3. From the menu, select the WebSite service for which you want to manage HTTPS.

If you see a warning at the top of the page about an HTTPS setup error, check your DNS settings first:

  1. Verify that the domain or subdomain has the correct Type A records set up.
  2. If the selected domain or subdomain contains other A or AAAA records that point it elsewhere than to WebSite, delete those records.
  3. If the records are correct, verify that you are using the DNS servers (NSSET) for which you are setting the records. DNS servers are managed by the domain registrar. For instructions on managing DNS servers at WEDOS, see Domains - DNS Servers (NSSET).

If everything is OK, click the Activate HTTPS security button.

HTTPS activation will take effect within 1 hour.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I check that HTTPS is working properly?

Enter the address of your website with http (http://domena.tld) into your browser. If you have everything set up correctly, the address will be automatically corrected to the https version and marked with a lock icon. If this does not happen, go through the steps of the instructions again carefully, including editing the .htaccess file.

I received an email saying that there was an error while renewing the certificate. What should I do?

The certificate ensures that HTTPS works properly on WebSite. If the domain does not use WebSite, you do not need to use the certificate here. Otherwise , point the domain to WebSite. If you encounter problems connecting to WebSite via HTTPS, request a check via the ⧉ form.
