Choosing a domain
A domain consists of the name itself (for example my-domain) and an extension (for example .cz).
When creating a name, we recommend considering the following:
- Match with the purpose of the domain. Does the domain name match the purpose for which you are registering the domain?
- Legal aspect. Is there a risk of disputes over the name matching a registered trademark or other intellectual property?
- Memorability. Is the domain easy to remember and to type into the address bar without having to search for it?
When choosing an extension, consider not only its suitability for your purposes; the following may also play a role:
- Price. We guarantee the lowest price of a CZ domain on the market, but for other extensions, especially promotional ones, we recommend checking the price for both the first year and the renewal in the complete price list ⧉.
- Support for special characters. Do you want a domain with diacritics, accents or other special characters? Make sure the selected extension supports these characters (an IDN-enabled domain). In our offer, these are EU domains, gTLDs (COM, ORG, …) and selected nTLDs (FUN, ONLINE, …).
Checking domain availability
Once you have chosen a domain, check its availability.
The search shows not only the domain with the given extension, but also alternatives in case the domain with the given extension is already registered.
The prices shown in the search are for domain registration; the price of the subsequent renewal may differ. You can find the current registration and renewal prices in the complete price list ⧉.
If you choose an available domain, click the button Register to continue with the registration.
.cz domain auctions
You can now obtain freshly expired CZ domains in an auction organized by the CZ.NIC registry ⧉. The auction itself is purely the responsibility of the registry, but you can easily register the domains you have won with VEDOS – just enter the domain name and the MojeID identifier of the contact that won the auction.
After filling in the form, proceed as with a standard domain registration.
Domain registration
If you want to get a domain for free as a gift with an order for new hosting, register it directly within the order for that service.
You register a domain in the registration form ⧉. It has six steps:
The system activates the domain within half an hour of receiving the payment.
1. Choosing a domain
Check the entered domain name carefully. A registered (paid) domain with a typo or other error cannot be refunded.
In the first step, enter the domain name and select any follow-up or paid services. Among other things, you can set the following here:
- Registration period. Through the order, you can register domains for a minimum of 1 year and a maximum of 2 – 10 years, depending on the selected extension.
- Hosting choice. Choose whether, after completing the domain order, you also want to order a trial version of the Hosting WP service. Alternativně můžete po dokončení této objednávky přejít na objednávku služby Webhosting ⧉, Mailhosting ⧉ or WebSite ⧉service, or none. This choice is mandatory.
- Add-on Services. By default, the order of the following is checked for a new domain: WEDOS EWM Domain Monitoring ⧉.
- Sleva na 1. rok. If you have a discount coupon for a domain order (for example from a promotion on hosting service orders), enter it here.
The price calculation in this step includes all selected Add-on Services for the selected period and any applied discounts. It does not include any follow-up services, such as Webhosting.
2. Settings
In the second step, choose the settings for DNS servers and domain contacts.
- DNS servers. By default, the domain uses WEDOS DNS servers, but you can also set external DNS servers or an NSSET here.
- Contacts. If you have an existing contact at the given registry, we recommend entering it to make management easier in the future. If you leave the field empty, the system will create a new contact. You can find more information in the article Domains – New Contact.
If you are registering a CZ domain obtained in an auction, in this step enter the holder contact at CZ.NIC (MojeID)that won the domain.
If you are not sure about the settings, keep the default values. You can change both the DNS servers and the domain contact later.
3. Login/Registration
In this step, log in or register in the Customer Administration.
If you are already logged in to the administration, the system skips this step.

4. Domain owner
In this step, fill in the domain owner’s details.
If you specified an existing domain contact in step 2, the system skips this step.
Pay special attention to entering the correct details, especially the domain owner’s email.
Typos and other errors can significantly complicate the administration related to verifying and managing the domain owner. The registry may also deactivate a domain with outdated or incorrect details without compensation.
5. Billing details
The billing details may differ from the owner’s details. The system will send all billing and communication regarding the service settings to the email address entered here (and only to it).

6. Completion
In this step, carefully check the entered details, especially:
- Domain name (typos and other errors)
- Domain owner’s email
- Billing email
At the end of the order, you can choose to pay via a Credit Account.
After you submit the order, the system will immediately send you an email with payment details. After the payment is successfully received, the service will be set up within 1 hour.
After the domain is activated, or after the owner’s email is confirmed (generic domains, e.g. COM, ONLINE, …), the domain propagates to DNS within 6 – 48 hours.

Registering a domain won in an auction
Problem: The following error message is displayed: The domain domain.cz was won in an auction. The domain can only be registered by the auction winner, who must enter the identifier of the owner contact that won the auction.
Cause: The domain must be registered by the contact listed as the auction winner.
Solution: Make sure that in step 2 of the registration you enter the contact of the domain winner (MojeID, in capital letters).
Billing Settings Check
Problem: The error Billing Settings Checkis displayed, but the VAT ID is correct.
Cause: The most common source of the error is an outage of the register of financial entities.
Solution: Wait a few minutes and try to proceed to the next step of the order again, or enter the billing details of a natural person and ask us to add the VAT ID to the domain via the contact form ⧉.
Domain not working after registration
Problem: The newly registered domain is active in the administration, but it does not work.
Cause: The DNS servers have not fully propagated, or the domain owner’s email has not been verified.
Solution: Wait 6 – 48 hours for the DNS servers to propagate. If it is a generic domain (COM, INFO, NAME, ONLINE, …), find the email with the link for confirming the owner’s email in the domain owner’s mailbox and follow the instructions in it.
Error in the domain name
Problem: The registered domain name contains a typo or other error.
Solution: Order a new domain with the correct name. If you also have the following ordered for the domain: Webhosting, Mailhosting, or WebSite, rename this service by following the guides in the links.
