Reset type selection

If you don't know which type of reset to choose, try them in this order and check that the reset fixed your problem when you're done.

  • Reboot (hard) is the equivalent of restarting the operating system, so there is no physical shutdown. Reboot first terminates running processes, reboot (hard) resets the system immediately. It is useful for solving some software problems within the OS.
  • Poweroff (hard) is the equivalent of physically shutting down the computer, where Poweroff first terminates running processes, Poweroff Hard shuts down the VM immediately. It preserves system resource allocation so that rebooting is fast. It is useful for resolving some software issues within the OS that Reboot does not resolve, and for increasing the VPS ON variant.
  • Undeploy (hard) releases system resource assignments in addition to physical shutdown as Poweroff. Rebooting is slower than from the Poweroff state. It is useful for solving some virtual-hardware problems.

Undeploy can cause filesystem corruption or data loss.

Common problems
