PHP versions on Webhosting and WMS
The available PHP versions differ by service. Different PHP versions are available on regular Webhosting than on the WMS service.
PHP versions on regular Webhosting
On regular Webhosting, you can currently set these PHP versions:
- PHP 5.4 – 5.6 (outdated, potentially unsafe)
- PHP 7.0 – 7.4 (outdated)
- PHP 8.0 – 8.5
Choose the version when ordering Webhosting; you can change it later using the instructions in the section PHP configuration.
PHP version on the WMS service
The WMS service currently offers PHP version 8.2.1 (as of October 2026). We are working on making newer PHP versions available for WMS. As soon as they are available, we will update the information here.
PHP info
To check specific functions using phpinfo() before setting up Webhosting, proceed as follows:
- Enter in your browser’s address bar
http://hc1-wd420.wedos.net/info.php82. - If necessary, change the suffix
.php82to the PHP version you want to check.
PHP configuration
Webhosting PHP configuration changes take effect within 30 minutes after saving.
Before changing the configuration, make sure your web application (system, plugins and themes) supports the new settings.
To access the PHP configuration interface, follow these steps:
- Log in to Customer Administration ⧉.
- In the top menu, select Hosting services Webhosting or WMS.
- Select the Webhosting whose PHP you want to configure.
- In the left menu, select PHP configuration.
In this interface, you can:
- Set a different PHP version. On the WMS service, only PHP version 8.2.1 is available as of October 2026.
- Choose default or custom settings for selected php.ini parameters. For custom settings, enter new values.
Confirm the new settings using Edit at the top of the page. After saving, wait 30 minutes for changes to take effect.

Configurable PHP parameters
In configuration interface you can set these parameters (default values in parentheses):
- allow_url_fopen (On)
- allow_url_include (Off)
- auto_append_file (Off)
- auto_prepend_file (Off)
- display_errors (On)
- html_errors (On)
- ignore_user_abort (Off)
- implicit_flush (Off)
- log_errors (Off)

- max_input_vars (10000), available values 0 – 100000
- output_buffering (Off)
- session.auto_start (Off)
- session.cookie_httponly (Off)
- session.cookie_secure (Off)
- session.use_cookies (On)
- session.use_only_cookies (On)
Webhosting plan parameters
These parameters depend on the Webhosting plan (values in parentheses for LowCost | NoLimit | NoLimit Extra):
- Number of PHP threads (7 | 25 | 30)
- memory_limit (256 MB | 512 MB | 1024 MB)
- upload_max_filesize (128 MB | 256 MB | 512 MB)
- post_max_size (128 MB | 256 MB | 512 MB)
Detailed plan comparison is available at this link ⧉. For instructions on changing plans, see the article Services – Changing the Plan or Billing Period.
WMS parameters
On WMS, you can also configure these parameters:
Basic configuration (default value)
- PHP priority (0) – lower value = higher priority; the server processes higher-priority requests first
- Number of CGI slots (7) – maximum number of concurrent PHP processes
- Max. connections (null) – the basic number of connections Webhosting can establish
- Process acme-challenge URLs (enabled)
- HTTP proxy Cache (enabled) – proxy caching on Webhosting
php.ini settings (default value)
- max_input_time (30)
- max_input_vars (10000)
- memory_limit (128)
- opcache.enable (enabled)
- post_max_size (32)
- upload_max_filesize (32)
Common issues
Common PHP configuration change problems include:
- Website not working after changing PHP
- Applications require different PHP versions
- The application installer reports an incompatible PHP version
- I can’t set PHP 8.3, 8.4 or 8.5 on WMS
Website not working after changing PHP
Problem: After changing the PHP version, a parameter, or after updating a plugin, the website stopped working and shows a white page or the error Parse error or Fatal error.
Cause: The application or a component (theme, plugin, etc.) is incompatible with the new PHP version or parameter value.
Solution: Change the PHP version or the parameter value back to the previous one. Discuss the application’s compatibility with the new PHP version with the website administrator or the support of the specific application. The name of the faulty plugin is usually shown in the error message. You can disable the plugin by renaming its folder via FTP in www/wp-content/plugins.
The application installer reports an incompatible PHP version
Problem: Installing WordPress using the application installer ends with an error saying that the selected version is not compatible with the installation location (for example, a requirement of PHP 7 to 8.2.99, detected 8.3).
Cause: The application installer has problems with PHP 8.3 and higher. We are tracking the error; it occurs rarely.
Solution: Temporarily set PHP 8.2 according to the chapter PHP configuration, wait 30 minutes for the change to take effect and repeat the installation.
Different PHP versions on one Webhosting service
Problem: I need part of an application to run on another PHP version.
Cause: One Webhosting service can host multiple domains/subdomains with applications requiring different PHP versions and parameters. However, Administration settings apply globally to the entire Webhosting service.
Solution: Run a specific file with another PHP version by appending the version number (without a decimal point) to its extension. For example, aplikace.php74 runs with PHP 7.4. If this solution is unsuitable, move the problematic application to separate Webhosting.
I can’t set PHP 8.3, 8.4 or 8.5 on WMS
Problem: On the WMS service I need a newer PHP version than 8.2.1, but it cannot be selected in the PHP configuration.
Cause: On the WMS service, only PHP version 8.2.1 is available as of October 2026. This is not a mistake in your procedure or a hidden setting that you could enable yourself. We are working on updating PHP for WMS.
Solution: Updating WordPress, plugins or themes, or editing the php.ini file, will not make a newer PHP version available on the WMS service. If your application requires a newer PHP than 8.2.1, check the current options with Support via form ⧉. Alternatively, consider an environment in which the required PHP version can be run, for example regular Webhosting or your own VPS server.
Frequently asked questions
How do I set a parameter above its maximum permitted value?
Customer Support can temporarily increase some parameters (typically max_execution_time). Send a request via the form ⧉; include the Webhosting name, desired value and reason for the request.
How do I change a parameter not listed in Administration?
If it is not a parameter that depends on the Webhosting plan, you cannot change it on shared Webhosting. A solution may be WMS ⧉, which offers more PHP parameter configuration options, or your own server VPS ⧉.
I changed the PHP version in the administration and nothing happens. How long does it take for the change to take effect?
Within 30 minutes of saving, please wait. If the problem persists, contact customer support ⧉.
How do I enable Memcache or Xcache?
Webhosting and WMS use OPcache, not Memcache or Xcache. Because these services are closed environments, these extensions cannot be added. You can find more information about caching in the article Webhosting – Cache and Proxy.
WordPress tells me it needs a newer PHP. Where do I change the version?
In the Customer Administration, in the settings of PHP configuration your Webhosting; you can find the procedure in the chapter PHP configuration. Before changing, verify that the system, plugins and themes support the new version.
What is the latest PHP version I can set on Webhosting?
PHP 8.5. On the WMS service, only version 8.2.1 is available, see I can’t set PHP 8.3, 8.4 or 8.5 on WMS.
Before switching to a new PHP version, I want to test a copy of my website. Can I create a clone of the Webhosting?
No, you cannot have two Webhostings with the same name or two different PHP versions in one Webhosting. Place the copy of the website, for example, in a subdomain and run its files with the new PHP version by appending the version number after the extension, for example application.php83, as described in the chapter Different PHP versions on one Webhosting service.
A plugin reports insufficient memory or time. What memory_limit and max_execution_time values can I set?
max_execution_time 5 – 300 s (default 90 s); you set it in PHP configuration. memory_limit is determined by your plan: 256 MB for LowCost, 512 MB for NoLimit and 1024 MB for NoLimit Extra. If the values of your plan are not enough, consider upgrading to a higher plan.
