With minor exceptions, an Authorised User can manage your Services as if they were in their customer account. VEDOS disclaims liability for any damages caused by the actions of the Authorised User.
In this article you will learn:
- What user permissions are for
- As an authorized user:
- How to manage services for which you are an authorised user
- Common problems
- Frequently Asked Questions
Authorised user role
An authorised user can manage other services as if they were in their customer account. For example, you can make your administrator an Authorised User without providing them with your login details.
Before setting permissions, make sure you can trust the authorised user. His/her authority over your services will be comparable to yours.
You can give an authorised user access to any service, billing or backup account management.
Create an authorized user
Any person with a WEDOS customer account can be an authorised user. Setting up ⧉ and operating a customer account are free of charge.
First, determine the ID and login of the user you want to grant permissions to. The user can obtain the necessary information using the following procedure:
- Logs into the customer administration ⧉.
- In the top menu, select My Account Customer.
- It will pass you the User ID and Email.

Simply adding an Authorised User does not grant that person any rights to manage your Services.
To add an authorized user, follow these steps:
- Log in to the customer administration ⧉.
- Select My Account Customer from the top menu.
- Select Authorised Users from the left menu.
- Click Add Authorized User.
- Enter the customer account ID of the authorized user and his login (e-mail).
- Click the Execute button.

Continue with the section Assigning and removing services.
Allocation and withdrawal of services
After adding an authorised user, you automatically continue by setting their permissions. If you have just added an authorized user, continue with the Services Assignment subsection.
If you need to add or remove services from an existing user, enter the Customer Account Permission Settings interface by following these steps:
- Log in to the customer administration ⧉.
- Select My Account Customer from the top menu.
- Select Authorised Users from the left menu.
- For the selected authorized user, click the magnifying glass icon.

Allocation of services
Assign services to an authorized user in the Customer Account Permission Settings interface. Follow these steps:
- In the Assigned Permissions table, select the Service Group that you want to assign to the user.
- Confirm the selection with the Add button.
- In the new Permission Settings for Category table, check the specific services that you want to assign to the user.
- Under the services table, select whether you want to automatically assign new services in this category to the user. By default, automatic allocation is disabled.
- Click Save permissions.

Removal of services
You can either subscribe to an individual service or to a group. To remove an entire account, go to Blocking or removing an authorized user.
To remove an individual service, follow these steps:
- In the Assigned Permissions table, click the magnifying glass icon for the selected service group.
- Uncheck the services that you want to remove from the authorized user.
- Click Save permissions.

To remove an entire service group, click the cross icon next to the group name in the Assigned Permissions table.
Blocking or removing an authorised user
You can block(deactivate) an authorised user, i.e. temporarily prevent them from accessing your services. You can cancel the block at any time and reactivate the user's access to the services.
Alternatively, you can delete the authorised user completely. If you want to add the same user again, you will need to make all the settings and add the services again.
To block or delete an authorised user, follow these steps:
- Log in to the customer administration ⧉.
- Select My Account Customer from the top menu.
- Select Authorised Users from the left menu.
- For the selected authorized user, click the magnifying glass icon.
- Click deactivate (to block) or delete.

Managing services by an authorised user
An authorized user displays the assigned services in his or her own administration. You can find an overview of them under the list of custom services of the category.

The administration of the assigned services is identical to the administration of the own services.
Common problems
Common problems with setting up authorized users include:
- The user does not see the services made available
- The user cannot manage the DNS of the accessed domain
- Erroneous customer account ID
- The administrator does not have a WEDOS account
Accessed services are not displayed
Problem: An authorized user cannot see the services available in his account.
Cause: it is not enough to assign only the type of services (domains, web hosting, ...) to an authorized user, but also the individual services.
Solution: Make sure that you have assigned the selected (or all) services to the user as described in Assigning Services.
A domain user is missing DNS management
Problem: A user has access to a domain but cannot edit DNS.
Cause: domain and DNS are separate services.
Solution: Make both the domain and DNS available to the authorized user.
Incorrect customer account ID
Problem: Error: customer account ID may not be equal to your customer account ID.
Cause: you are probably mistakenly entering your customer account ID instead of your administrator account.
Solution: Find out and enter the login and ID of the foreign account to which you want to make services available, as described in the chapter Creating an Authorized User.
Authorised user does not have a WEDOS account
Problem: My administrator does not have a WEDOS account.
Solution: Create an administrator account. Setting up and maintaining an administrator is free. If the administrator does not want to use their own email address, they can set up a new mailbox specifically for the purpose of managing WEDOS services.
Frequently Asked Questions
My customers run their websites on my web hosting/WMS. Should I set each of them as an authorized user?
In this case, it is better to set up each customer with their own FTP access and their own database. Do not add these customers as authorized users unless you have another good reason to do so.
Can an authorized user pay for my services from his/her backup account?
No, and he can't pay them out of yours either.
