This article covers upgrading the parameters of the VPS SSD service. For the VPS ON guide, see the article VPS ON – Parameter Upgrade.
In this article you will learn:

- How to perform the upgrade
- Common problems
- Frequently Asked Questions
Upgrading VPS SSD parameters
VPS SSD parameters are modular, so the following configurations are available:
- 15 GB HDD, 2 GB RAM, 1 CPU
- 30 GB HDD, 4 GB RAM, 1 CPU
- 60 GB HDD, 8 GB RAM, 2 CPU
- 120 GB HDD, 16 GB RAM, 4 CPU
- 180 GB HDD, 24 GB RAM, 6 CPU
- 240 GB HDD, 32 GB RAM, 8 CPU
You can only increase VPS SSD parameters; the system does not allow decreasing them. The upgrade process is therefore irreversible for the given VPS.
Upgrading the parameters deletes all existing snapshots.
Performing the upgrade
Before upgrading the parameters, take the following precautions:
- Reserve time for the necessary downtime. The length of the downtime depends on the amount of data stored on the VPS disk. As a rough estimate, 10 GB of used space takes ~3 minutes to upgrade.
- Expect the server to restart. Make sure all services start correctly on the server after it boots.
- Make a backup. The upgrade itself does not cause data loss, but we have recorded cases of damage caused by improper intervention during or following the upgrade.
Before upgrading, shut down the operating system and turn off the server. If you do not, the system will forcibly turn the server off.
Then follow these steps:
- Log in to the Customer Administration ⧉.
- In the top menu, select Server services VPS SSD.
- Select the service you want to upgrade from the list.
- In the left menu, select Upgrade variant.
- Choose the target variant and confirm with the button Upgrade Variant.

Wait for the upgrade to complete in the system; the process usually takes 30 minutes at most. The system then turns the VPS on automatically. To finish upgrading the parameters, follow these steps:
- Log in to the Customer Administration ⧉.
- In the top menu, select Server services VPS SSD.
- Select the service you want to upgrade from the list.
- In the Server Control table, click the button turn off.
- After the server has turned off, click in the Server Control table the button turn on.

Finish the parameter upgrade by turning off and turning on the server in the Customer Administration. A regular restart or a hard reset is not enough.
After the restart, check whether the partition and file system were enlarged automatically. If necessary, perform the upgrade manually.
Once the upgrade is complete, the system automatically deducts the additional charge for the upgrade from your Credit Account. If your Credit Account does not have sufficient credit, the system will instead issue, no later than the next business day, an invoice due in 7 days to pay the price difference up to the end of the currently prepaid period.
Common problems
Common problems with upgrading VPS SSD parameters include:
Original parameters on the server
Problem: After the system boots at the end of the upgrade, it still shows the original values.
Solution: Turn the server off and on again in the Customer Administration ⧉. You can find the detailed procedure in this part of the guide. Any other kind of restart is not enough.
The file system was not upgraded
Problem: After the upgrade and hard reset, the file system still has its original size.
Cause: The system automatically upgrades only the file systems of operating systems preinstalled by us (after January 2013).
Solution: For custom operating systems, perform the upgrade manually following the community guide VPS – Expanding the File System ⧉.
