Expiration of domains
Domain expiration is governed by the terms and conditions of the registry, we cannot influence it in any way.
After expiration, the domain always goes through the following states:
- Protection period, disconnected from DNS. The domain is still registered to its holder, but it does not have access to DNS. Websites and emails do not work on this domain. You can renew the domain during this time by paying the renewal fee.
- Removed from the register. The domain is removed from the registry and can be re-registered ⧉.
Depending on the registry, it may also go through the following states:
- Protection period, DNS functional. Domain works normally after expiration. If you renew the domain during this time by paying the fee, the registry will calculate the new expiration date from the original expiration date, not the renewal date.
- Protection period, preparation for deletion. Domain is deleted from our system. You can only restore it using the so-called restore, i.e. restoration of deleted domains, charged according to the price list ⧉. The restoration price does not include the domain renewal fee itself.
- Protection period, deletion in progress. During this period, you cannot renew, renew or re-register the domain.
The duration of the individual post-expiration periods for our registered extensions can be found in the following table:
| Domain | DNS functional | DNS disconnected | Preparing for deletion*** | Lubrication in progress | Decommissioned |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| EN | 1st to 30th day | 31st to 60th day | - | - | Day 61* |
| EN | - | Day 1 to Day 40 | - | - | 41st day |
| EU | - | Day 1 to Day 40 | - | - | 41st day |
| EN | - | 1st to 30th day | - | - | 31st day |
| gTLD, nTLD** | 1st to 8th day | 9th to 29th day | Day 30 to 60 (deleted from administration) | Day 61 to 65 | 66th day |
| Subreg domains | - | 1st to 7th day | Days 8 to 37 (deleted from administration) | Day 38 to 42 | 43rd day |
** gTLD: generic domains COM, NET, ORG, INFO, BIZ; nTLD: new generic domains, e.g. NAME, ONLINE, WEBSITE...
*** During this period, the registry charges a renewal surcharge in addition to the regular fee.
You can extend the domain in the protection period by paying the fee while it is in a functional DNS state or DNS is disconnected (60 days in total for a CZ domain and 30 days for gTLD and nTLD domains). If DNS is disconnected, the domain will be fully functional again within 48 hours.
Expiration of hosting services
Hosting services, i.e. Webhosting, WMS, WebSite, VPS HDD/SSD, VPS ON, Dedicated Servers, Disk, Cloud and CD, are completely under our management. Upon expiration, they go through the following states:
- Expired, on. Service works normally after expiration.
- Expired, shut down. Service is down. Webhosting, WMS and WebSite sites show an error message about the site being down(Webhosting is down), other services are unavailable. You can extend the service by paying the fee, the system will turn it on within 1 hour of receiving payment.
- Deleted. The service is deleted. Domains directed to this service are directed to the default page(Domain is registered). The service cannot be restored, late fees paid are refunded. You can re-establish the same service.
A deleted service can be restored only by creating a new service with the same name. We do not keep data backups of deleted services and cannot restore them.
The duration of each period after the expiry of the services can be found in the following table:
| Service | On | Off | Deleted |
|---|---|---|---|
| Webhosting, WebSite, Mailhosting, VPS, Disk | 1 day | 28 days | 30th day |
| WMS, Cloud, CD | - | 29 days | 30th day |
| Dedicated servers | - | 6 days | Day 7 |
Terminated (expiring) services are shut down by the system immediately after expiration and deleted on the 7th day after expiration (immediately for dedicated servers).
Temporary switching on of expired hosting
If you need to temporarily make a disabled service available, for example to download a backup, contact customer support using the form &boxboxbox; following this template:
Žádám dočasné zapnutí služby (název nebo číslo služby) na (počet dní dočasného zapnutí, maximálně 5 dní po expiraci) dnů za účelem (popište účel zpřístupnění služby, např. stažení zálohy).
There is no way to claim temporary activation of the service, support has the right to refuse the request.
Common problems
Common service expiration issues include:
Service extended, website not working
Problem: After extending the expired service, the website (or email) still doesn't work.
Cause: The most common cause is the renewal of only one service of the domain-webhosting pair (2 services). If you have both restored, it may be a DNS or cache lag.
Solution: In the order overview in the customer administration at this link ⧉ make sure that the system has successfully renewed both the domain and the web hosting, i.e. both services are active.
If the domain has been expired and removed from DNS, wait 6 - 48 hours for the servers to re-provision.
If the webhost has been expired, wait 1 hour and clear your browser cache according to this community guide ⧉.
Frequently Asked Questions

My generic domain expired, but I don't want to pay to restore. When can I register it again?
