Services - Extension

This article deals with service extension settings. To set additional options for service behavior before expiration, follow the instructions in Administration - Service Behavior Before Expiration. For detailed information about service expiration behavior, see Services - Expiration behavior.

In this article you will learn:

Extension of services

Whenever you extend the service, you set the selected period in addition to the current expiration date.

The system will increase the requested period when the payment for the service is successfully processed. This is conditional on entering the exact amount (including cents) and the variable symbol of the payment, if the payment type you have chosen requires this information.

Changing the billing information and some additional service settings will cancel the original demand for payment and issue a new one with a new variable symbol. If you send a payment with the variable symbol of the original or any older invoice, the system will not extend the service. Please contact us via the form ⧉, indicating the name of the service and the variable symbol of the payment sent.

The basic time unit for which you can extend your service is 1 year. Some services allow longer periods, some shorter (but with a handling surcharge). See the table below for an overview:

ServiceExtension
Webhosting, WebSite, Cloud, CD1 year (can be repeated up to the service limit)
Domains1 to 10 years (up to a maximum of 10 years)
WMS, VPS, Dedicated Servers, Disk1 year or 1 month (with a 10% surcharge)

For details on the expiration process of services, see Services - Expiration process.

Some services offer specific extension settings:

Automatic service extension

You need an active back-up account with sufficient credit to automatically extend your service. The prices for services paid from the advance account are exclusive of VAT.

Automatically extended services do not issue payment prompts. If for some reason the automatic renewal does not happen, please renew manually.

You can set automatic renewal either for all services of selected categories (domains, web hosts, ...) or selected services placed in folders.

Common problems

Common problems with service extensions include:

The service is not displayed in the administration

Problem: The extension service is not showing up in the customer administration.

Cause: the service is registered with another provider, another customer, or has been deleted.

Solution: Verify that the service is working. If so, make sure you have it with us and are logged in to the correct customer account. If you can't verify this, ask for help from customer support. Please specify the type and name of the service you are dealing with. Support can send you a hint of the service administrator's name or company or login email. The extent of the help provided is entirely at the discretion of support and cannot be claimed in any way.

If the service is not working, there is a good chance that the system has deleted it after expiration. For more information about service expiration, see Services - Expiration Process.

Cannot enter a domain discount coupon

Problem: In the domain renewal order there is no field for entering a discount coupon.

Reason: we already offer domains at purchase prices, so we do not offer any additional discounts.

Solution: Carefully review the terms and conditions of your discount voucher and redeem it to extend the service for which it is valid.

Non-functioning discount coupon for renewal

Problem: The discount coupon for service extension does not work.

Cause: the coupon has expired, the maximum number of redemptions has been reached, or you are entering a coupon that only works for setting up new services.

Solution: Carefully review the terms of use and expiration date of your discount coupon. If you are convinced that your renewal coupon should work, send the coupon code, the name of the service where you are redeeming it and the text or screenshot of the error message via the form.

Low credit balance on your account

Problem: When I try to make a bulk renewal, I get the message: the balance on the deposit account is too low (X CZK). The order price is Y CZK.

Solution: Top up the required amount to your deposit account.

Expired automatically extended service

Problem: Automatically extended service did not renew and expired due to lack of credit.

Cause: if the credit is low on the backup account and the service is not extended, the system does not issue an invoice for the service and tries to extend from the account again. If the extension fails, the service expires.

Solution: Extend the service manually. Check and possibly change the billing information of the backup account so that next time you will be correctly notified of a failed service extension.

To keep track of service expirations and other outages of web and mail services, use the WEDOS EWM domain extension or the WEDOS OnLine monitoring .

Refund of extension payment

Problem: The payment for the service extension was returned to the account.

Cause: once the system deletes the expired service, payments with the corresponding variable symbol are returned. The billing department will usually contact you regarding payments that the system was unable to pair automatically or that do not match any older payments we have on file.

Solution: Check the service's billing email to see if the billing department has contacted you about the unidentified payment. Payments received more than 30 days after the expiration of the service (with the exception of some services) are typically returned because the services associated with them have been deleted by the system.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why are you sending me a notice to pay for a service extension a month before the due date?

By default, we send emails in advance to reduce the risk of service outages in the event of email or payment complications. To change the frequency of notifications, follow the instructions in Administration - Service Behavior before expiration.

Can I manually pay for the extended service from a credit?

Yes, follow these instructions.

If I pay for the service early, won't I lose a chunk of the previous period?

No, whenever you pay for the service, it will be extended from the original expiration date. The same goes for paying for the service late: if you pay for the service 2 days later, the system will extend it again from the expiry date, not from the date the payment is received and the service is back up and running.
