Catching up on service

You can let an existing service run out of time. Setting a service to catch up will achieve the following changes in the system:

  • You cancel all active invoices to extend the service. Supplementary invoices will not be affected by the expiry.
  • Unsubscribe from emails notifying you of the expiration of your service from WEDOS. You can still be informed about domain expiration by the respective registry.
  • For hosting services, you can reduce the time to completely delete the service from 30 to 7 days (7 to 0 days for dedicated servers) after the expiration date.

Setting a domain to expire does not affect its protection period.

Running services retain their names until they are completely deleted. If you are terminating a service so that you can start a new one with the same name, rename it first according to the corresponding instructions for Webhosting, Mailhosting, or WebSite.

To let the service run out, follow these steps:

  1. Log in to customer administration ⧉.
  2. In the top menu, select the type of service you want to let run out.
  3. Select the service to run out of in the list.
  4. In the left menu, select Termination/retirement of service.
  5. For hosting services, fill in the type and reason for termination.
  6. Click on the Send Notice or Finish button.

Generally, a VEDOS staff member will contact you by billing email within 1 business day to work out a prorated refund with you.

Frequently Asked Questions

The hosting service usually lasts 7 days from the expiration date. Domain expiration is governed by domain-specific retention period rules set by the registry.

I want to terminate my service now so I can start a new one with the same name. How should I proceed?

Before running out, rename the service according to the instructions for Webhosting, Mailhosting, or WebSite. If the system does not allow you to make these changes, contact customer support via the ⧉ form to request removal of the service name.

I am terminating a service because I want to start another type or merge services. I still have quite a long time left on the original service. Can I transfer unused funds to another service?

Yes, please indicate your request to transfer funds to another hosting service on the termination form.
