FTP - Login

This article discusses the procedure for obtaining FTP credentials. For instructions on how to work with files via FTP, see the Web Hosting - File Management article.

In this article you will read:

FTP access data

FTP clients, such as WebFTP ⧉, always require the following 3 pieces of information to log in:

  • The FTP server address that your service has assigned. It consists of a six-digit identification number, the server designation, and the wedos.net extension, for example 123456.w78.wedos.net.
  • A username consisting of the letter w, a six-digit number identical to the number in the address, and, in the case of a secondary account, an additional name. Examples of usernames: w123456 (main account), w123456_webmaster (secondary account).
  • Password generated by the system or set when creating a new account.

More information about FTP accounts can be found in the articles Webhosting - FTP accounts and Disk - Connections.

Obtaining access data

When you set up the web hosting service, the system will, among other things, create a master FTP account and send you its login details in the service setup email. The system also sends the login details by email when you create a new FTP account.

Account login details cannot be changed after creation, except for the password. You can change your password in the customer administration.

E-mail with access data

The default login credentials for the main FTP account can be found in the service setup email sent from hosting@wedos.com.

When you create a new FTP account (or Disk user account), you will also receive an email from hosting@wedos.com.

If you can't find the email with your login details, please update them via customer administration.

Customer administration

If you don't know the password for your FTP account, change it by following the instructions in Webhosting - FTP Accounts or Disk - Users.

You can find out the server address and user login in the customer administration. Follow these steps:

  1. Log in to the customer administration ⧉.
  2. From the top menu, select Hosting Services Web Hosting or WMS, or Server Services Disk.
  3. From the list of services, select the web host for which you want to get FTP data.
  4. In the Web Hosting service details, in the FTP table, click the name of the account you want to use to log in to FTP.
  5. Copy the FTP server and login information. If necessary, change the password.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can you send me the password to the FTP account?

No, we do not have access to the FTP account password. Change it according to the instructions for Webhosting or Disk.

How do I make it possible to enter the FTP server address in the form ftp.domena.tld?

You can set the actual FTP address on your domain to a CNAME record by following these instructions.

How do I change my username?

Create a new FTP account for the Webhost or Disk user. However, the name will always contain an immutable numeric part (for example, w123456).

Can I enter the address I use to log into the administration as my login?

No, and neither the address of the provider or subscriber of the service nor the e-mail address entered when the FTP account was created works.

How do I sign up for SFTP?

Only WMS supports SFTP login. For more information, see WMS - Connecting to SFTP.

Webhosting currently supports only FTP(S).
