You can find the current range of web hosting services on the Webhosting product page ⧉.

If you want to use the WebSite 1.0 ⧉ service for your project, do not order Webhosting. Website hosting and (in paid plans) email are already included in the WebSite service.

In this article you will learn:

VEDOS Webhosting

Webhosting is one of our original services. It offers storage for your website's files and databases, PHP support and therefore various content management systems (WordPress, Joomla, …), and email.

If you want to build a website using a simple editor, try the WebSite ⧉service. The basic plan (FREE) is free of charge.

Among other things, Webhosting offers:

You can find the complete description of the service on the Webhosting product page.

Webhosting plans

We currently offer the Webhosting service in three plans, which you can further customize using Add-on Services.

  • NoLimit. Webhosting NoLimit ⧉ is the basic plan with parameters tuned especially for the popular WordPress content management system.
  • Extra. Webhosting Extra ⧉ extends NoLimit mainly with higher performance and daily backups.
  • LowCost. Webhosting LowCost ⧉ is for experienced users who optimize their website for minimal performance consumption. For this reason, it does not include aliases.

You can find a complete overview of the parameters of each plan on the page Webhosting plan comparison ⧉.

Webhosting order requirements

You can set up Webhosting for any second- or third-level domain, including domains registered with another provider.

Before creating a new order, make sure that:

  • You have the domain you are ordering Webhosting for in your customer account. Webhosting can also be set up by an authorized user of the domain. You do not need to meet this requirement if you register the domain somewhere other than with VEDOS, or if you order a free domain with Webhosting.
  • You are not using the domain you are ordering Webhosting for with another service (WebSite, Hosting WP, Mailhosting, WMS).

Ordering Webhosting

If you meet the requirements, order a new Webhosting using the order form ⧉. It has seven steps:

  1. Basic information
  2. Settings
  3. Login/registration
  4. Domain owner
  5. Billing details
  6. Operator
  7. Completion

1. Basic information

In the first step, enter the name (domain or subdomain without www) of the Webhosting.

If you want to get a free domainwith your webhosting, fill in only this order (do not order the domain separately). The free domain offer applies only to selected extensions (you can find the current list directly in the order) and cannot be combined with most discount coupons.

Next, select the plan and add-on services. You can change both later in the Customer Administration following the guides Services – Changing the Plan and Billing Period and Webhosting – Add-on Services.

Next, set the options:

In the next section, set:

  • Gifts. Select whether you want a gift with your webhosting (for example, a free domain). If you want to apply a discount coupon instead, select No gift.
  • Bonus for switching from a competitor. If you are not requesting this bonus, leave the field empty. For more information about the bonus for switching from a competitor, see the website ⧉.
  • Discount coupon. Enter and apply the discount coupon code for setting up the webhosting here. Coupons usually cannot be combined with gifts.

2. Settings

In this step, fill in the settings of the domain ordered together with the webhosting.

If you did not select the gift Free domain with webhosting, the system skips this step.

You can find more information in the article Domains – New Service Registration.

3. Login/registration

In this step, log in or register in the Customer Administration.

If you are already logged in to the administration, the system skips this step.

If you have problems logging in, follow the guide Administration – Login Problems.

4. Domain owner

In this step, fill in the details of the owner of the domain ordered together with Webhosting.

If you did not select the gift Free domain with webhosting, or if you filled in an existing domain contact in step 2, the system skips this step.

You can find more information in the article Domains – New Service Registration.

5. Billing details

Billing details may differ from the owner’s details. The system will send all billing and communication regarding the service setup to the specified email address (and only to it).

You can update the billing details of the service later following the guide Services – Billing Details.

6. Operator

In this step, fill in the details of the Webhosting operator with whom WEDOS, a.s. will conclude a data processing agreement.

The Webhosting operator has no special authority over the service. In the event of a dispute, WEDOS, a.s. considers the owner of the service to be the customer in whose account the service is located, unless a court or another competent authority decides otherwise.

7. Completion

In this step, carefully check the entered details, especially the billing email.

At the end of the order, you can choose to pay via Credit Account.

After you submit the order, the system will immediately send you an email with payment details. Once the payment is successfully received, the service will be set up within 1 hour.

Common problems

Common problems with ordering Webhosting include:

The domain is in another customer account

Problem: An error is displayed This domain name cannot be used. – The domain is registered in another customer account; you must be in the same account or set up authorization.

The domain is registered in another customer account; you must be in the same account or set up authorization.
The domain is registered in another customer account; you must be in the same account or set up authorization.

Cause: The domain whose name you want to set up for a hosting service must be in the same customer account as that hosting service, or the account must be an authorized user of the domain and DNS. This is a security measure against domain abuse.

Solution: Move the domain, at least temporarily, to your own customer account (using the service transfer method, or using the authorization password), or have your account set up as an authorized user.

Domain name cannot be used

Problem: The error “This domain name cannot be used. – The domain name is already in use by another service (service).” is displayed.

Error: The domain name is already in use by another service.
Error: The domain name is already in use by another service.

Cause: A domain (or subdomain) name can be used at most once by most hosting services in our system. It does not matter whether these services are in one customer account – the restriction applies system-wide.

Solution: Rename the conflicting service (WebSite, Mailhosting, another Webhosting or alias) following the guide in the link, for example to old.domain.tld, where you replace domain.tld with the name of your domain. Remove the alias completely.

Bonus for switching from a competitor

Problem: After ordering webhosting with the switching bonus, an invoice arrived, and the webhosting does not work.

Cause: You receive the bonus period in addition to the 1st year of Webhosting operation.

Solution: Pay for the first year of service operation; the system will then send your bonus request to customer Support for approval.

Emails stopped arriving

Problem: After the webhosting was set up, emails to an external service (Google Workspace, …) stopped arriving.

Cause: If you leave the option to make changes to WEDOS DNS checked in the webhosting order, the system overwrites both the A and AAAA records and the MX records.

Solution: Set the DNS records of type MX back to the original email service provider.

Domain points to the original webhosting

Problem: Despite the DNS being overwritten, the domain points to the original webhosting.

Cause: The domain probably does not use WEDOS DNS servers. The content of the original website may also be cached in the browser.

Solution: Check whether the domain uses WEDOS DNS servers (NSSET). If so, wait up to 1 hour for the DNS records to be overwritten and clear the browser cache ⧉. If not, change the records manually with your current provider.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the space of NoLimit and NoLimit Extra webhostings really unlimited?

Yes, but it applies only to files that the website actively uses. Storing backups in this space is prohibited (for backup solutions, use Free backup disk). File size is also physically limited by the server capacity.

I entered an incorrect domain name, what should I do?

If the service has not been set up yet, use the form ⧉ to ask Support to cancel the order. If the system has already set up the webhosting, rename it following this guide.

The form skips some steps of the order, why is that?

Some form steps depend on previous settings, for example the choice of gift Free domain with this webhosting.
