When to use this guide
- You forgot your mailbox or WebMail password and don’t know where to find it (Changing the password in the Customer Administration).
- Your email client (Outlook, iPhone) reports an incorrect password or asks for an app password (The new password does not work).
- You changed the password, but the new one doesn’t work yet (The new password does not work).
- You know the password and want to change it directly in WebMail (Changing the password in WebMail).
- You can’t log in to the Customer Administration where the password is changed (I do not have access to the Customer Administration).
Changing the password in the Customer Administration
A password change can take up to 15 minutes, and the original password remains valid until then. You can then use the new password to log in to WebMail and to any other email client.
You can change the password in the Customer Administration only if the hosting is in your account, or you are authorized user of the service. If you do not have access to the Customer Administration of the hosting where the mailboxes are located, contact the administrator of that service.
To change the password in the Customer Administration, follow these steps:
- Log in to the Customer Administration ⧉.
- In the top menu, select Hosting services and Mailhosting, Webhosting, WMS or WebSite.
- Choose the service for which you want to change the password.
- In the left menu, select Email boxes.
- Click the magnifying glass icon next to the mailbox you want to edit.
- In the Password field, enter a new password (or generate one randomly using the key button) and type it again in the Confirm.
- At the top of the form, click the Save Changes.
Manage Email Boxes

Wait 15 minutes for the change to take effect, then log in with the new password.
Changing the password in WebMail
You can change the password in WebMail only after you have successfully logged in, which requires knowing your current password.
Proceed as follows:
- Log in to WebMail ⧉.
- In the top right corner, select Settings.
- In the left column, select Password.
- In the Current password field, enter your current password, and enter the new password in the remaining fields.
- Click the Save.

Common problems
Common problems with changing an email mailbox password include:
The new password does not work
Problem: After changing the password, you still can’t log in to the mailbox, or your email client (for example Outlook or iPhone) reports an incorrect password.
Cause: A successful login depends on more than just the password. In some cases, the mail server may be unavailable. The most reliable way to test a login is the online client WebMail ⧉.
Solution: Make sure that your login credentials, the way you enter them, and the mail servers are all correct.
- After saving the password change, wait 15 minutes for the new settings to take effect.
- Log in with your full email address and the new password at WebMail ⧉.
- If the password doesn’t work even after 15 minutes, set it again in the Customer Administration and check that you typed it correctly.
- In your email client (Outlook, Thunderbird, …) check the SMTP and POP3/IMAP settings.
- At Status ⧉ verify that the mail servers are not experiencing an outage.
I do not have access to the Customer Administration
Problem: I cannot change the password because I cannot access either WebMail or the Customer Administration.
Cause: The email services are either managed by someone else or are in a Customer Account that you cannot access.
Solution: If the mail hosting is managed by a third party or a company, send your password change request to that provider. If the email services are in your account but you can’t log in, follow the guide Administration – Login Problems.
Frequently Asked Questions
Where does the email mailbox password need to be changed?
Enter the new password in every email client for which you want to keep access to the mailbox. If you send emails from a web form, check that the new password is set there too (unless you send via PHP mail).
On the other hand, the change does not affect your login details for the VEDOS Customer Administration.
I forgot my mailbox password. Can you tell me what it is?
No, we can’t tell you your mailbox password. Set a new one in the Customer Administration as described in the chapter Changing the password in the Customer Administration.
How long does it take for a new mailbox password to start working?
Up to 15 minutes. Until then, the original password remains valid.
Outlook or another client asks for an app password. What should I enter?
Enter the mailbox password and use the full email address as the login name. If you don’t know the password, set a new one as described in the chapter Changing the password in the Customer Administration and enter it in your client after 15 minutes.
I can’t log in to WebMail with my Customer Administration login. What credentials should I enter?
The full email address of the mailbox and the password of that mailbox, not your Customer Administration credentials. You can set the mailbox password as described in the chapter Changing the password in the Customer Administration.
