FTP Access Credentials
FTP clients, for example WebFTP ⧉, always require these 3 items to log in:
- The FTP server address, which is assigned to your service. It consists of a six-digit identification number, the server designation and the suffix wedos.net, for example 123456.w78.wedos.net.
- Username consisting of the letter w, the six-digit number identical to the number in the address and, for a secondary account, an additional name. Examples of usernames: w123456 (main account), w123456_webmaster (secondary account).
- Password generated by the system or set when the new account was created.
You can find more information about FTP accounts in the articles Webhosting – FTP Accounts and Disk – Connection.
Getting the access credentials
When a Webhosting service is set up, the system creates, among other things, the main FTP account and sends you its login credentials in the service setup email. The system also sends the login credentials by email when a new FTP account is created.
The account login credentials cannot be changed after the account is created, except for the password. You can change the password in the Customer Administration.
Email with the access credentials
You can find the default login credentials of the main FTP account in the service setup email sent from hosting@wedos.com.
When a new FTP account (or a Disk user account) is created, an email also arrives from hosting@wedos.com.
If you cannot find the email with the login credentials, update them via the Customer Administration.
Customer Administration
If you do not know the password for the FTP account, change it following the guide Webhosting – FTP Accounts or Disk – Users.
In the Customer Administration you can find the server address and the user’s login name. Follow these steps:
- Log in to the Customer Administration ⧉.
- In the top menu, select Hosting services Webhosting or WMS, or Server services Disk.
- From the list of services, select the Webhosting service for which you want to find the FTP credentials.
- In the Webhosting service detail, in the FTP table, click the name of the account you want to use to log in to FTP.
- Copy the FTP server and Logindetails. If needed, change the password.

Common Problems

Frequently Asked Questions
Can you send me the password for my FTP account?
No, we do not have access to FTP account passwords. Change it following the guide for Webhosting or Disk.
How can I enter the FTP server address in the form ftp.domain.tld?
You can set up on your domain a CNAME record pointing to the real FTP address following this guide.
How do I change the username?
Create a new Webhosting FTP account or Disk user. However, the name will always contain a fixed numeric part (for example w123456).
Can I use the address I use to log in to the administration as the login?
No. Neither the address of the service operator or customer nor the email entered when the FTP account was created will work.
How do I log in via SFTP?
Logging in via the SFTP protocol is supported only by the WMS service. You can find more information in the article WMS – Connecting via SFTP.
Webhosting currently supports only FTP(S).
