WebMail – Mobile View

On this pageWebMail mobile interfaceCommon ProblemsFrequently Asked Questions

WebMail currently uses the mobile template Elastic. The template is not compatible with the desktop template Larry and switching between these two templates causes display problems in the desktop version. You will find the solution in the chapter Common Problems.

This guide covers the basic controls of the WebMail ⧉ interface on a mobile phone. You will find the complete guide to using WebMail in the article WebMail – Manual.

In this article you will learn:

WebMail mobile interface

WebMail currently uses the modern responsive template Elastic.

for its mobile interface. We have removed the original Larry Mobile template from the system because it is not compatible with the new version of the core RoundCube software. For security reasons (both the template itself and the software compatible with it are outdated), we do not plan to bring it back.

The figure shows the layout of the mailbox user interface:

Common Problems

Common problems with the WebMail mobile version include:

Larry template reset by mobile Elastic

Problem: On my computer I have the template Larry with the layout List (without preview). Whenever I log in to WebMail from my mobile phone, the layout switches to the default Widescreen (3 columns).

Cause: The mobile version uses the Elastic template, which does not use the Layout parameter.

Solution: We are currently working on a fix on our side. In the meantime, you can use this alternative procedure:

  1. In the Customer Administration, open the mailbox settings following the guide Email – Mailboxes.
  2. Add any alias to the mailbox. You do not need to change the password.
  3. Arrange for one mailbox name to be used to log in on the PC and a different one (the alias) in the mobile version. Both addresses use the same password.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can you restore the original mobile view of WebMail?

Unfortunately not. The author no longer maintains the previous mobile view and has not for a long time, and deploying it would cause compatibility and security problems for the mail client.
