Requesting an authorization password
You can request that the authorization password for a domain be sent to you in the Customer Administration by following these steps:
- Log in to the Customer Administration ⧉.
- In the top menu, select Domains.
- From the list, select the domain whose authorization password you want to have sent.
- In the left menu, select Authorization password.
- Click the button Send Authorization Password.

The system sends the authorization password exclusively to the domain owner’s email address.
The message usually arrives within a few minutes of the request. If you do not see it in your inbox, check your SPAM folder. If it is not there either, try requesting the password from a different browser.
Requesting the password directly from the registry
Some registries allow you to request the authorization password directly on their websites. These are:
Bulk request for authorization passwords
You can also request authorization passwords in bulk for a larger number of domains. Follow these steps:
- Log in to the Customer Administration ⧉.
- In the top menu, select Domains.
- In the list, tick the domains whose authorization passwords you want to have sent.
- In the actions with selected items select send authorization password.
- Click the button Execute.

Domain contact authorization password
In some cases, you need the authorization password of the domain contact instead of the domain authorization password. These are two different items: the domain authorization password does not work for the domain contact, and vice versa.
When entering an authorization password, pay attention to the instructions about whether you should enter the domain password or the domain contact password.
Have the contact authorization password sent to you by following these steps:
- Log in to the Customer Administration ⧉.
- In the top menu, select Domains.
- In the left menu, select the registry and then the item Authorization password contact.
- Enter the contact identifier and fill in the verification text.
- Click the button Send Authorization Password.
Send the contact authorization password in the registry:

Common problems
Common problems with sending the authorization password include:
- The domain is not in the list of services on the account
- The password you requested does not arrive
- The domain owner’s/contact’s email is unavailable
- The authorization password you received does not work
The domain is not in the customer account
Problem: We cannot see the domain whose authorization password we need to have sent in our customer account.
Cause: The domain is in a different customer account, with a different registrar, or it has expired and the system deleted it.
Solution: If the domain is active and registered with us, use the guide Domains – Transfer Between Accounts Using the Authorization Password. An authorization password sent this way can be used not only for transfer between accounts, but also for the purpose for which you originally requested the password.
The password does not arrive
Problem: The authorization password you requested does not arrive.
Solution: Please wait. If the password does not arrive within a quarter of an hour of sending, make sure you are checking the domain owner’s mailbox and not a different one (for example, the billing one, which may differ). If the mailbox is correct and the password still does not arrive 15 minutes after the request, try requesting it from a different browser, or directly from the registry (CZ.NIC and EURid only).
Unavailable email
Problem: The email address to which the authorization password is sent is unavailable.
Solution: Follow the guide to resolving an unavailable domain owner email.
The authorization password does not work
Problem: When I enter the authorization password, I get an error message saying the password is not valid.
Cause: The password may have expired (because its validity period has run out or it was used elsewhere), or it belongs not to the domain but to its contact.
Solution: First, check that you are really using the domain authorization password and not, for example, the authorization password of the relevant domain contact. If you had the password sent several times, make sure you are entering the latest one.
Frequently Asked Questions
We received an authorization password without requesting it. Is someone trying to steal our domain?
Some authorization passwords can be requested by anyone (even an unregistered user), for example as part of a domain transfer. It may be a typo or a mistaken belief that a domain transfer is the same as a change of owner. Our system sends passwords only to the domain owner’s email address. If you keep it secure, theft of the domain through misuse of the authorization password is unlikely.
If you are worried about domain theft, consider insuring ⧉it. IT and legal assistance are included in the service.
