Domain owner’s email
You need an accessible domain owner email to:
- receive the domain authorization password,
- transfer the domain,
- change the owner of certain domains, or
- edit the domain owner’s contact.
Keep the domain owner’s email up to date for your own benefit. Losing access makes updating it considerably more complicated.
Domain owner’s email unknown
If you do not know the email under which your domain is registered, contact customer support using the form ⧉ and ask for a hint. If the contact is registered with us, we will send the address partly masked with asterisks for security, for example la***@we***.c**.
Domain owner’s email unavailable
The most common causes of an unavailable domain owner email include:
- Try to create the cancelled mailbox again.
- Restore a mailbox on recently expired hosting by paying for the service, or ask the hosting provider’s support to reactivate it temporarily.
- For email from a working domain, forward it to another working mailbox.
- For email on an expired domain removed from DNS, you can update the domain contact’s email directly with the registry (CZ domains) ⧉, or through our authorization department (see below).
If you cannot perform the previous steps or they fail, contact us using the form ⧉. Send a message following this template:
I request an email change for contact (replace the text in parentheses with the contact identifier) for domain (replace the text in parentheses with the domain name). The original email (replace the text in parentheses with the original email) is unavailable and access cannot be restored. Please set the new email (replace the text in parentheses with a new working email).
After requesting a domain owner email change, you will receive a form to confirm with an officially certified or electronic signature.
You can change other contact details, such as the phone number, by editing the contact following the guide Domains – Editing a Contact.
Frequently asked questions
Why must I request an email change using a form with an officially certified signature?
Authorization passwords are sent to the domain owner’s email and allow almost any action on the domain. A request with an officially certified signature ensures the change is requested by an authorized person.
What if I also need to update the phone number?
If the domain contact has a working email, update the phone number following the guide Domains – Editing a Contact.
